George Wimpey relies on DEVI
The Royal Mead development at Okus Road in Swindon, comprises nearly 350 units for accommodation, including 249 apartments, all of which have benefited from the installation of DEVI electric underfloor heating!
The flats have been designed and built by George Wimpey, a company that has used DEVI extensively in the past. According to buyer, Martin Payne at George Wimpey, it was the success of the heating system on another local scheme in Swindon that guaranteed its use on the Royal Mead development. “We installed DEVI underfloor heating in 19 units in 2005 and we were impressed with the ease of installation and the subsequent high standards of performance,” he comments. “On this scheme, we wanted an alternative to storage heaters and DEVI provided the solution.”
Built on the site of a former industrial park, each of the 30 plus cores that comprise the development is individual in design and combines contemporary design with high performance construction. The use of underfloor heating eliminates the need for obtrusive heating such as radiators and frees up space within the apartments. DEVI also supplied all screeding to the flats and the rubber insulation, installing the cabling under the floors in every room, controlled by devireg 550 thermostatic controls.
The deviflex cabling system offers economy in both heating costs and energy efficiency. Simple to install and versatile, the underfloor heating cabling system is ideal for flats and apartments, with lengths of cabling laid within the screed then connected to the individual thermostat, controlling each room for perfectly regulated heat.
The Royal Mead development is now complete, with the 249 flats offering the highest levels of comfort through the cost effective and invisible DEVI heating system.
