Icicle and lumps of ice present a real threat to road users, when passing a mast or driving on – or under - a bridge. Moreover, ice on masts, reflectors and wirings on bridges presents a real treat to the construction itself. Often ice can sum up to quite substantial extra weight which can damage the construction.

One choice of the engineer is to make the dimensions of the construction capable of carrying the extra weight. – This is often a very costly solution in terms of extra materials. Another option is to remove the ice manually. – A labour heavy and often dangerous task.

The practical, economical and automatic solution is to install a DEVI frost protection system with Deviflex™ cables wrapped around the mast or wires.

We recommend Deviflex™ heating cables type DTIP and DSIG controlled by a Devireg™ 850 thermostat with combined air and moisture sensor, both air sensor and moisture sensor, due to economic reasons as it is not sufficient to measure only the air temperature. If the air is dry, ice formations will not occur - but if both moisture and temperature are registered, it is possible to ensure an optimal control of the system.
